Chaos versus calm is a recurring feature of my work. I want to celebrate vibrancy and yet I want to facilitate meditative states, both at the same time, and the tension between these two potential outcomes is what compels many of my abstract pieces. The blaze of colour dissolves into softness, the sense that a turn of the dial may settle all manner of turmoil. A landscape of flickering energies may appear unfamiliar and strange but look – grazing there peacefully is a reassuring flock of imperturbable sheep, so settle in and take a longer look.
Albert Einstein said that there are two ways to live your life – as if nothing is a miracle or as if everything is a miracle. I see miracles, and for me, painting is a way to share them and to open a dialogue about where you find yours.
